Peace in the Storm of Addiction

Posted on June 1st, 2013

“Trust in the Lord with all your heart and lean not on your own understanding” (Proverbs 3:5, NIV)

Are you facing a situation where you do not have any idea what the solution could be? Sometimes we have to stop overanalyzing everything and choose to trust God. Instead of letting negative things like fear, doubt and anxiety take over our minds, we need to take a step back and let God speak to us. We have to take the time to shut off all of the distractions to meditate and pray.

The disciples of Jesus were overtaken by a great storm, and they thought their ship was going down. As Jesus rested below, they actually thought that he must not really care about them. When they cried out to him, he came up and said the beautiful words “Peace, Be Still”, and this horrible storm that was threatening their very lives was stopped in its tracks. Today our Lord is still calming storms. He can calm the storms of addiction and bondage. He can calm your storms also and he will, if you call on his name and allow him to help you.

Proverbs 3:5 says to trust in the Lord with your whole heart. That is where faith comes in. Have faith that God knows what he is doing and he has a plan for you. Have faith that “EVERYTHING IS GOING TO BE OK”. As you lean on him, you will see his blessings pour into your life.

There is Always Hope.

Posted on February 15th, 2012

One thing I have come to understand is that “No matter how low a person is in life – There is always hope.” Many times in life we have to get to the very end of ourselves before we will reach out to God. When anyone reaches out for help…..God is always there. I have never witnessed someone truly reach out to God for help with a sincere heart that did not see God give them miracle breakthroughs in their life. Never! The bible is true when it says “God is close to the broken hearted”. God understands what we are going through when we are in a trial or suffering. He understands it better than we do. He sees us through eyes of love and compassion and wants the best for us. God will not force his will on us but when we are ready, he will always be there to help us. He created you for great things. He has great plans for your life. No matter what you are going through….. “There is always hope”. So just reach out.

New Year – New Opportunity

Posted on January 15th, 2012

I love the start of new things. The fresh start of a new week, a new month or a new year. It is a chance to shake off the old negative things that hinder us. It’s a tough world we live in down here. It’s ugly, it’s dark. Did I mention that it is tough? Of course we all know it is. We have a lot to fight down here. We fight a dark world, a real enemy of our souls and ourselves. We do have an understanding God that helps us through it all. He is there to guide us. He is there to answer our questions when we will sit still and listen. He is there to heal us when we are truly ready for him to take over. He is there with compassion to help us deal with our failures and weaknesses. He whispers that it will be ok because he has overcome this world and he knows the end of your story. The bible says that God’s mercies are new every morning. That means his grace is there to refresh our every morning, our every week, our every month and also every year. So we now have the opportunity to let go of all of the negative things that have tried to hold us down. We can drop them at the foot of the cross and be strong in his grace. We can start fresh. We can make it through this. We can stand tall with our head held high because we are loved and his mercy is new again.
